A2RL: inside the new EAV-25 architecture

Safety. Performance. Operability.

The latest upgrades to Meccanica 42’s Corner Brake Actuator (CBA), Pinion-Type Steering Actuator (PSA), and Body System Unit (BSU) are elevating A2RL to higher standards.

Safety - Fully hydraulic braking enhances safer on-track operations.

  • CBAs handle all braking, performing speed-modulated emergency braking and replacing the pneumatic backup
  • Dual 48V/12V power supply ensures safe stops under electrical faults.
  • BSU introduces a Limp Mode for safe pit return during failures.

Performance - Lower mass boosts vehicle dynamics and control.

  • Passive brake circuit is removed and CBA hydraulics are streamlined for a lighter, more compact system.
  • Reducing mass lowers the center of gravity and inertia, improving balance and responsiveness.

Operability - Reliable systems cut maintenance and ensure track continuity.

  • Wiring looms are redesigned for quicker access and maintenance.
  • Removing the pneumatic system simplifies startup and shutdown.
  • A PSA torque limiter with slip joint protects components during minor impacts and allows continued operation.
  • Upgraded HMI provides precise, real-time diagnostics for faster team response.
