Autonomous racing made its debut at one of motorsport’s most iconic events this November: the JAF Grand Prix SuperFormula 2024, hosted at the legendary Suzuka Circuit.
We had the incredible opportunity to collaborate again with our long-time partner Technology Innovation Institute (TII), supporting their autonomous racecar, which took center stage at this prestigious event.
The JAF Grand Prix is a key moment in Japanese motorsport, part of the highly competitive Super Formula season.
Super Formula is famous for developing future Formula 1 stars, offering a perfect mix of speed, engineering, and driver skill.
This year, the addition of autonomous racing demonstrations added an exciting twist, showcasing a new kind of motorsport.
Suzuka, known for its challenging figure-eight layout and demanding corners like the 130R and Spoon Curve, has been the proving ground for some of the greatest names in racing.
Our role at Suzuka was to provide technical support to the autonomous racecars.
If you’re curious to know more about these cars’ architecture, here you can find all the information.
The event featured two demo races that truly highlighted the potential of autonomous racing.
In the first race, two autonomous cars faced off at speeds of up to 270 km/h, demonstrating how far AI has come in motorsport.
The second race was a “Man vs. Machine” showdown, where the Man was the Professional driver Daniil Kvyat. Although the autonomous racecar crashed into the wall, it served as a powerful reminder that challenges are an integral part of the mission itself on this journey. Every unexpected turn is a learning moment that brings you closer to the ultimate goal.
For us, the focus is clear—helping our partners push the boundaries of innovation while we take care of the technical complexities, ensuring they can stay focused on their vision.
We extend our deepest thanks to the organizers, TII, ASPIRE, and everyone who contributed to this extraordinary event.
The JAF Grand Prix showed us just how much potential there is when technology, collaboration, and ambition come together.
We are proud to have been part of this historic event and are eager to see where the journey towards autonomous racing will take us next.
